Congratulations to Kimberley South Rotarian Dorothy-Anne Howitson who has been awarded the International Service Award for a Polio-Free World for 2014-2015
The award was established by the Trustees of the Rotary Foundation in order to recognise outstanding contributions to the effort by Rotarians and thereby to encourage final efforts. Active personal service is required by the prospective recipient of the award. Personal financial contributions are not a basis for the award.
There are two levels of this award, Regional, for outstanding service primarily within a World Health Organization (WHO) region, and International, for broad service to the cause of polio eradication. The award is limited to a maximum of 10 recipients. What an honour for the Zone, the District, and especially for the Rotary Club of Kimberley South.
Friday 13th February proved to be a busy meeting this week, with a group of 11 visiting Rotarians from Denmark, the induction of a new member, and an introduction to the RI President-elects theme for 2015-16, given by our Club President-elect.
