Please don’t ask Rotary for a donation…

It is not uncommon for the Rotary Club of Kimberley South to be asked by individuals and organisations to make a financial donation to a specific charitable cause. As such this is a misunderstanding of the fundamental purpose of Rotary.
Rotary is not a fund-raising and donations organisation like the National Lottery. Rotary is a non-profit public service organisation whose members get involved in club, vocational, community, international and youth service so as to promote integrity and advance world understanding, goodwill and peace.
Where we do raise and donate funds, we do so with and for projects, events and activities where the Club has taken a decision to get personally and directly involved.
Let us explain further…
The Rotary Club of Kimberley South in particular, and Rotary International in general, is governed by a vast range of South African charity legislation, our own Club Constitution, as well as a set of general and permanent policies of Rotary International.
The Mission of Rotary is to provide service to others, promote integrity and advance world understanding, goodwill and peace, through its fellowship of business, professional and community leaders.
The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise.

The five Avenues of Service have been developed over the years to provide Rotarians with a strong common purpose and direction. They serve as a foundation for our relationships with each other, the action we take in the world, and as such are the foundation of all club activities:

The mission, object and avenues of service determine the way that we act as individual Rotarians and as members of the Rotary Club of Kimberley South. They determine what endeavours we get involved in and how we invest club time, knowledge, gifts or monies to meet our wider mission and objectives.
